Started in 2010 with Traverses, Eigenlicht has been a way to explore the Germany where I'm living, to appropriate the unknown and my own foreignness/strangeness, through the prism of places called "abandoned". Alone, I visited regularly each of preselected areas in Berlin and Brandenburg, to develop my relation to them, to witness the light's changes, the seasons' evolution, the human activity. Related to the german past, these places are an undeniable stake for the Berlin of Today, entering the final phase of its transition. From 2012, I deepened my approach in Saxony-Anhalt, especially Zeitz, small town victim of the deindustrialization due to reunification. Faced also meanwhile with decisive physical and mental obstacles - inauspicious for adventure and risk, I was positively forced to listen to my limits and abilities. My experience was as inner and introspective as in connection with the world. True to a sensibility I developed over the years, I photographed what touched me : the beauty, the light, the life - without any intervention in situ or on the pictures. Eigenlicht is rich in paradoxes, fluctuating between yesterday and today, absence and presence, abandonment and life, law and freedom, loneliness and relationship, individuality and society.

Arrived in Berlin in 2010, I photographed alone over one year many abandoned places which I visited regularly. Because I developed my relationship with each one of these locations over the months, I thus could tame them, and detach myself from their strength to concentrate on the details. I also could see them exposed to the seasonal fluctuations. Furthermore, although these places are qualified as abandoned, I noticed the life they still shelter.
